2 Much Tax

My Campaign

My campaign is built on the principles of making Minnesota a more desirable location for companies to move rather than pushing them away with high taxes and over-zealous regulation.   Government, especially the over-taxing of its people and businesses, needs to be reined back in if we want our economy to flourish.

There is a real victim mentality on the part of those who seek to have the government run every aspect of their lives.  We need to get government intervention out of our lives as much as possible and bring back personal responsibility and self-reliance.  Business needs to be encouraged, not constricted through regulation and taxation.  If there are no businesses, there is no tax revenue, no wages, no jobs, and no hope.  We cannot keep biting the hand that feeds all of us by pushing companies out of Minnesota.

We need to remember that the founding fathers did not trust government to run its citizens' lives for fear it would again become over-taxing and over-controlling.....Does any of this sound familiar?

If you agree that we are over-taxed and over-controlled, then let's talk.  I want to be your candidate and work for you in the Minnesota Legislature.

Biography

I was born in St Paul, Minnesota in 1968. Just before starting school, my parents bought my grandparents' family farm near Wyndmere, North Dakota. It is the same farm currently owned by my cousin, so it has found its way back into the family. I attended high school in Wyndmere where I played sports and managed to never miss the Honor Roll. My dad, my sister, and I were avid trap shooters and I loved to hunt. I believe my work ethic and values came from my family, our farm, and our little town. I believe that everyone who lived there had a sense of pride in the area as well as a work ethic that was second to none. I thank my parents for always taking an interest in everything that my sister and I did, both in and out of school.

My goal was to join the Air Force Academy after high school, so my grades, sports, and volunteer efforts centered around this potential appointment. The academy appointment did not materialize, so the day I graduated from high school, I moved to Minneapolis and got a job. I worked for Medtronic, Inc. for seven years where I met my wife. Cathy and I were married in 1993 and I became a husband and step-dad overnight. Over the next year, I attended college while working two jobs and helping raise our newborn son. I completed my degree the following year when my son turned one.

This year my step-daughter started college at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. My son is an eighth grader at Jackson Middle School. Both of my kids do very well in school, are musically-inclined, and make me proud and frustrated on a daily basis as all parents know. They are the reason why I am running for office. I want their future to be secure and full of opportunity.

I currently work for Data Trak in White Bear Lake, MN as a sales representative and look forward to the additional role of a Minnesota Legislator.
